Get Out star slammed for calling US ‘racist and sexist’ after Trump’s landslide election win

A star of West Wing and Get Out found himself under fire after criticizing the U.S. following Donald Trump’s Election Day victory.

Bradley Whitford, best known for his Emmy-winning role as political adviser Josh Lyman on the hit show, suggested on Wednesday that Kamala Harris’s landslide loss was, at least in part, due to the country’s ‘racist and sexist’ nature.

‘I thought it was going to be closer,’ he told The Independent. ‘But whenever any of my friends asked me, I would end it with, “You can never underestimate how you know, racist and sexist this country is.”‘

The remarks sparked backlash on social media, with critics quickly calling out the actor.

‘Bradley Whitford is a racist sexist, the guilty always accuse and project,’ wrote one follower, as another posted, LOSERS ALWAYS BLAME RACE/SEXIST BS WHEN THE TRUTH IS HARD TO TAKE’

Another sounded off, ‘Nope. Just don’t like a crappy candidate. Had zero to do with race and sex. Nice try at pandering though. Do better Bradley.’

Yes another chimed in, ‘Yes, the white male will explain everything.’

‘The bigot in that sentence is Bradley Whitfield,’ a critic also commented.

During the Independent interview, Bradley also didn’t hold back when sharing his thoughts on the President-elect.

‘It is completely bewildering to me the cult that has formed around a narcissist like this, the worst person in show business,” Whitford told the outlet. ‘And that’s a tough category.’

Bradley also portrayed the sinister Dean Armitage in Get Out, a well-meaning but disturbing liberal patriarch who plays a key role in the film’s unsettling ‘sunken place’ ritual.

Meanwhile, Jay Leno found himself facing backlash on social media after calling Tuesday’s election ‘a great day for democracy,’ while also admitting he ‘was not a fan’ of President-elect Donald Trump.

Appearing on The Talk Wednesday, the 74-year-old star reflected on the Republican’s victory over Kamala Harris, saying, ‘The nice thing about this election is, it was fair, it was honest.’

He continued, ‘I was not a fan of Trump, but that’s OK, it’s the president of the United States – let’s all get together, thank you very much.’

Leno, who hosted The Tonight Show from 1992 to 2014, shared that he feared a close election might lead to ‘name-calling,’ but he praised the process as ‘done professionally.’

He added, ‘Everybody says it was honest. I mean, it’s a great day for democracy.’

His comments didn’t sit well with some social media users, who quickly called him out.

‘Jay Leno just told The Talk’s nodding heads that ‘it’s a great day for democracy. First time he’s ever been funny,’ one user remarked.
