- Hinge is testing a new anti-ghosting tool called ‘Your Turn Limits’
- Instead of leaving people hanging, users will have to reply or end conversations
It’s something that many frustrated singletons have experienced.
But ghosting could soon be a thing of the past, thanks to Hinge’s latest update.
The dating app is testing a new tool called ‘Your Turn Limits’, which is designed to increase daters’ focus on quality over quantity of matches.
Instead of leaving people hanging, users will be forced to either reply or end conversations before they can start new connections.
‘As Hinge is the dating app designed to be deleted, the team is committed to getting its users off their phones and onto great dates,’ Hinge explained.

Hinge developed the new tool after discovering that many daters were feeling burnt out from being left on read.
In fact, according to a recent study, a whopping 44 per cent of Hinge users say a lack of responsiveness is their top challenge when it comes to dating.
To combat this issue, Hinge is testing new restrictions, called ‘Your Turn Limits’.
During the test, users who have eight or more matches waiting for a reply will receive a ‘Your Turn’ reminder.
‘Your Turn reminds users when it’s their turn to respond in a conversation — which helps reduce accidental ghosting as users explore each connection,’ Hinge explained.

If you receive the Your Turn notification, you’ll be forced to respond or end the conversation before you can match with anyone new.
Hinge hopes the new tool will boost the likelihood of chats leading to dates in the real world.
‘In 2023, when both people messaged within the first 24 hours, they were 72% more likely to go on a date,’ it explained.
It remains unclear how long the test will run for or which regions it will be tested in.
The news comes shortly after Hinge made it easier to avoid time wasters and toxicity by letting users filter out unwanted terms.
The Hidden Words tool automatically blocks ‘Likes with Comments’ containing words, phrases or even emojis, as chosen by the users.
And from ‘Sunday Roast’ to ‘F1’, Hinge users have taken to social media to share the phrases and dating clichés that they’re sick of hearing about.
One X, formerly Twitter user, wrote: ‘Finally, a dating app feature I can get behind.’
