Other drivers can be heard sounding their horns to alert the unaware truck driver to chaos behind them.
The incident was recorded in the city of Huzhou in Zhejiang Province, China on Sunday.
In the footage, a Mini Cooper is seen waiting at a set of traffic lights next to a large truck carrying a giant piece of piping.
At the back of the truck, a small section of the pipe is seen to be overhanging.
As the lights go green, the truck begins to make a slow right-hand turn as the other vehicles wait patiently.
Dashcam footage recorded the moment a car was crushed by a giant pipe on a flat-bed truck – but luckily the occupants escape just in time in Huzhou in Zhejiang Province, China
But as the truck turns, the back of pipe catches onto the Mini, and within seconds has smashed through its roof.
Nearby vehicles can then be heard honking continuously to try to get the truck driver to notice the trail of chaos the pipe is causing.
The car’s door then opens, with the driver and a small child jumping out to safely before the truck comes to a stop.
It is not known if anyone was injured in the incident. Reports suggest that the incident is under investigation.
