It’s not often that you get to meet a famous pop star when you’re on a night out at your local bar.
But that’s what one Irish woman seemed certain had happened when she bumped into a man bearing a striking resemblance to Robbie Williams.
She captured the entire evening on Snapchat captioning the images with Robbie’s name, boasting that she was ‘on a sesh’ with him at the pub.
But Twitter user Kate McGee, from Dublin, spotted the images and poked fun at the woman for believing she had met the celebrity, and her funny post has now been shared thousands of times.
She captioned the images: ‘Someone I have on Snapchat thinks they’ve ran into Robbie Williams at a gaff and I am CREASING.’
It later became clear that the woman behind the Snapchat images knew it wasn’t Robbie, as her sister Stephanie O’Regan, posted a response on Facebook claiming they were just playing along.

Miss McGee posted the comments in the same thread which read: ‘We didn’t think he was Robbie, we said he looked like him is all.
‘And I must say I had a cracker of a laugh last night I haven’t laughed so much in ages! Robbie or no Robbie so F*** ALL THE SADO[SIC] HATERS!’
Twitter sleuths also delved into the identity of the man, a builder called Conor Flynn, who has tried his hand at impersonating Robbie in the past by singing Angels in a video clip.
One person tweeted: ‘Pretty sure that guy is a builder and is a customer of mine , to be fair he sings a lot.’
Miss McGee also posted comments on Facebook from someone who she said was the woman’s sister claiming they knew all along it wasn’t Robbie Williams
The gentleman, who was in a black vest and had tattoos just like Robbie, posed for the pictures with the two girls as well as on his own
