Girl shot in Sydney drive-by shooting reveals her injuries

A 13-year-old girl has been left with bullet-riddled legs after she was shot in a ‘targeted’ drive-by attack.

The teenager has revealed the extent of her injuries after she was pummeled by a hail of bullets at a home in Guildford, western Sydney, about 9.45pm Tuesday.

The girl, who cannot be named, took to social media from her hospital bed where she showed the bullet wounds in her thigh and calf, Network Ten reported.

Despite having holes in her legs, the 13-year-old remained in high-spirits, writing: ‘Getting shot in the leg feels fineee (sic).’

Superintendent Matt Appleton said it was hard to describe the actions of the shooter and their alleged accomplice, who police say was driving a silver SUV, according to the network.

‘It’s a cowardly act for someone to fire into a house in any circumstances, but to put children at risk is hard to describe in words,’ he said.

According to neighbours, there were ‘five or six pops’ as the unknown gunman shot at the garage, where the young girl was sitting with a group of other teenagers.

‘There were just sounds of screams. It was pandemonium,’ a neighbour said as police investigated the crime scene.

The 13-year-old was taken to hospital in a serious condition – as police hunt for the shooter responsible for her injuries.

New South Wales Police said the girl was treated at the scene by ambulance paramedics before being taken to the Children’s Hospital in Westmead.

Police received reports a number of shots had been fired into the garage of a home where a group of people were sitting. Police believe the shooting was not a random attack.

Neighbours came onto the street to speak to police about the incident while traffic was diverted away from the scene.

‘It’s the sort of area where it happens all the time, it’s another night in Guildford,’ she said.
