After receiving her first mobile phone for Christmas, YouTube obsessive Macie Bullen-Jones quickly used up all her data.
When the eight-year-old received the dreaded text informing her she had no data left, she simply sent a text back asking for more.
When her mother Claire spotted her reply to O2 she found a way to turn it to her advantage.
She sent the company a picture of Macie’s reply and asked if they could write to her daughter, telling them she could get access to the internet again providing she did some jobs around the house.
To her surprise, a letter then arrived for Macie, along with a pack full of treats.

After quickly using up all her data Macie texted O2 saying ‘please can I have more data’
She later received this letter from 02 saying she hadn’t helped her mum enough with jobs around the house
The letter, from O2’s social media team, said: ‘We got your text, but since you’re so famous now we wanted to write you a letter.
‘We’re not able to up your data allowance at the moment, our systems say you haven’t helped mum enough with jobs around the house. Unfortunately you’ll have to wait until we see better reports.
‘Don’t be too sad though, we’ve sent a fidget spinner to keep you amused along with some other little O2Surprises. We hope you like them.’
The other gifts included a Rubix cube, a power bank for her phone, some sweets, a light up yo-yo and a water bottle.
Claire, who lives with husband Chris, Macie and Lilly-Mai, seven, was delighted with O2’s response.
She said: ‘Macie only got the phone at Christmas and we’d set up her data to see how she went. She used it all up on YouTube, she is YouTube obsessed, and spends a lot of her time making her own videos.
‘She received an automated message from O2 telling her, so tried to reply back asking for more.
‘Me and my friends had a giggle about it and one of them mentioned sending it to O2 so we did.
‘They went above and beyond and sent her a box of goodies along with a letter. The letter was fantastic and really made her day.’

Macie, who attends Christ Church Primary School in Leigh, has taken note of the letter and been busy helping her mother round the house.
‘She came home and cleaned all her room and didn’t bat an eye lid when she was asked to do other stuff,’ said Claire. ‘It’s jobs for data.’
She added: ‘The O2 staff member who arranged this deserves a pat on the back, what a way to make an eight-year-old’s day. Amazing service from them and not many other companies would’ve gone to such an effort.’
An O2 spokesperson: ‘ We often like to surprise our customers and we’re pleased that Macie and Claire enjoyed our gift.’
