New South Wales Premier Gladys Berejiklian has been mocked for showing her support for the Blues ahead of the State of Origin opener – four hours before kick-off.

The premier tweeted a photo of herself standing in front of a TV while proudly donning a Blues beanie and scarf with a can of Coke Zero in her hand on Wednesday afternoon.

‘Getting ready for Game 1. Go the NSW Blues!’ she wrote.

While some NSW footy fans cheered on the eager premier, others questioned why she was game-ready hours before the teams were due to even take the field.

‘Getting ready for Game 1 by standing and watching the telly four hours before kickoff,’ one tweeted.

‘That coke is gonna get warm the game isn’t till tonight,’ another said.

‘Yep, nothing quite screams ”I’m one of the regular crowd” as getting your winter coat on to stand in front of the television five hours before the game starts. With a can of coke,’ commented another footy fan.

‘Gladys it’s not for a few hours yet, you might want to take a seat, wouldn’t want to be standing around for 3 hours,’ commented another.
