Glam in grey! Duchess of Edinburgh recycles Suzannah London coat dress as she attends Buckingham Palace garden party

The Duchess of Edinburgh looked effortlessly elegant in a grey coat dress as she hosted a garden party at Buckingham Palace this afternoon.

The mother-of-two, 58, was all smiles as she greeted guests attending the Not Forgotten Association’s annual event for ex-service men and women.

For the occasion, the royal recycled a grey ensemble she first wore to attend a military parade in Dorking, Surrey in 2017.

The elegant piece of outerwear – which is designed by one of Sophie’s favourite fashion houses, Suzannah – has a V-neck cut and a chic silk bow at the waist.

Sophie then teamed this with a matching light grey hat which was designed by Jane Taylor.

The newly-appointed Duchess completed her ensemble with a pair of white silk high heels and simple jewellery.

The royal swept her blonde hair into an elegant updo and opted for minimal makeup.

Along with her signature bronzed smokey eye, Sophie finished off her look with a slick of rosy pink lipstick.

The Not Forgotten Association provides entertainment, leisure and recreation for the serving wounded, injured or sick and for ex-service men and women with disabilities.

The royal family have continued to hold an annual garden party to honour servicemen since it was first approved by King George V and Queen Mary.

During the event, Sophie was seen happily laughing with former members of the Armed Forces as they soaked up the sunshine in London.

What’s more, Sophie was seen lovingly stroking a black Labrador who has been trained as a guide dog.

Sophie has been a Patron of the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association since July 2017 – when she took over from Princess Alexandra.

On top of this, Sophie is a Global Ambassador for the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness – and tested out some ground-breaking technology in her role earlier this year.

Sophie’s most recent engagement comes just days after a pedestrian was struck by an outrider in the Duchess’s motorcade which left her in a coma.

A police motorcycle collided with the elderly woman in Earl’s court on Wednesday.

Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance rushed to the scene before the woman, in her 80s, was taken to hospital.

Buckingham Palace said after the incident that the Duchess of Edinburgh’s ‘thoughts and prayers are with the injured lady and her family’, adding she was grateful for the ‘swift response’ of emergency services.

Last week, the Duchess of Edinburgh joined the Prince and Princess of Wales and Prince Edward for another Buckingham Palace Garden Party which celebrates ‘people who do extraordinary things’.
