Glee star Darren Criss is trolled by fans over his newborn son’s VERY unique name

Darren Criss and wife Mia Swier announced a new member in their family band earlier this week.

And now the Golden Globe winner, 37, and his wife are being trolled by fans for the newborn’s unique name.

‘M & D just delivered their follow-up single. Brother László Criss 6/3/24,’ Criss captioned the post. ‘Out now. … and yes his first name is Brother.’

His caption appeared to be a nod to when they announced their first child, daughter Bluesy Belle, in April 2022. ‘M & D made some sweet music,’ Criss wrote at the time. ‘Out now.’

Criss went in and edited his post to clarify that the newborn’s name is, in fact, Brother.

Fans put two and two together, realized Criss has kids named Bluesy and Brother and one commented: ‘Did you name your kids after the blues brothers just in a super literal way?’

‘If you need to say ‘yes his name really is…,’ chances are you picked a bad name,’ one user wrote, while another added: ‘Some people need to remember (or outright realize) their babies are actual human beings they are choosing to name.

Other people pointed out the issues that could arise if Brother gets married, writing: ‘Do you take Brother to be your lawfully wedded husband?’

‘Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should. I’m sorry, but your child is going to be teased on the playground for being named Brother,’ someone else wrote.

But Criss and Swier, 38, were also met with congratulatory comments from friends, including some of Criss’ fellow Glee alums.

‘Yeeeeesssss! So happy for you growing Family!! Love you all!’ wrote Matthew Morrison.

‘Congratulations,’ Kevin McHale wrote with crying emojis.

‘Congrats fam!’ Rachel Brosnahan commented.

‘Y’all sure do make the cutest kids,’ raved Emma Hunton.

The couple announced their second pregnancy in December, Photoshopping theirs and Bluesy’s faces onto a poster for Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again.

‘And COMING SOON… let’s hope the sequel is better than the photoshop‼️’ Criss captioned the poster, which also featured two positive pregnancy tests.

They previously announced their first pregnancy by sharing audio of Bluesy’s heartbeat from inside the womb.

‘We’ve been making music for years.⁣ ⁣ … But this time we made a BEAT,’ Criss wrote at the time. ‘The ultimate collab droppin Spring 2022.’

After welcoming Bluesy, Criss opened up to People about first-time fatherhood while starring on Broadway in a revival of American Buffalo.

‘It’s a blessing to get all these things happening kind of all at once – personal, home stuff happening among the same fun, prosperity and excitement that is existing in my professional life – there’s something that’s very invigorating about that,’ he said.

‘So I’m rockin’ and rollin’,’ added Criss. ‘Chaos begets chaos. And I, for better or worse, tend to thrive on a bit of chaos.’
