Glen Powell shrugs off comparison to Ryan Gosling as he jokes Barbie star ‘is a legend’ and ‘I’m just Glen’

Glen Powell has casually shrugged off a new comparison to Ryan Gosling.

The Wrap reported that an unnamed Hollywood producer said about the 35-year-old Anyone But You star: ‘Unlike an actor like Ryan Gosling whose appeal is mostly limited to female audiences, Glen appeals to both females and males.’

Powell reshared the quote on social media platform X, adding his two cents.

He replied, ‘Gosling is a legend. I’m just Glen,’ referencing Gosling’s 2023 Barbie ballad I’m Just Ken.

Along with making the Ryan contrast, the producer also said, ‘Glen Powell is most definitely an up-and-coming movie star in the sense that audiences now go to movies to see him.’

It comes after last week Glen’s wild transformation for the new satirical series Chad Powers sent fans into a spin — with some mistaking him for Tom Cruise.

Hulu released an official image of the actor in the upcoming comedy show, a day after DailyMail.com shared sneak peek images of the unrecognizable star on set.

A joint post with Glen, ESPN, Hulu, and Omaha Productions, included the caption: ‘Think fast, run fast. Glen Powell is #ChadPowers in Hulu’s new comedy series.’

Powell is co-creator of the upcoming half-hour comedy series, along with Michael Waldron.

It spurred from an ESPN+ sketch created by former football star Eli Manning, 43, and he will executive produce the show with Glen and Michael.

Also included in the recent social media post was the original skit starring Eli as Powers.

An official synopsis for the comedy reads: ‘When bad behavior nukes hotshot QB Russ Holliday’s college career, he disguises himself and walks onto a struggling Southern football team as the talented, affable Chad Powers.’

Glen was spotted on set this month in a straggly, blonde wig and large, prosthetic nose.

He also wore a mustache as filming kicked off in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Hollywood hunk played down his looks as he sported a short-sleeved blue Nike athletic shirt, arm band, and yellow shorts.

The show is being directed by Tony Yacenda and also stars Quentin Plair, Wynn Everett, Perry Mattfeld, Frankie A. Rodriguez and Steve Zahn.

Per Variety, Powell and Waldron expressed in a joint statement earlier this year, ‘We’re both diehard college football fans.

‘When we saw Eli as Chad Powers, we knew that was the way into a big, fun story about this world.

‘We’re excited to be part of this team, and can’t wait to get Chad in the game. Think fast, run fast.’
