Person falls off a cliff in the Blue Mountains and another is injured as paramedics rush to the scene: ‘There’s something going on’

One person has fallen off a cliff in the Blue Mountains and a second person is injured with paramedics rushing to the scene. 

In a statement, NSW Ambulance said a rescue helicopter was en route to Portal Lookout at Glenbrook.

Emergency services were called to the scene around 8.25am Tuesday.

Photos from the scene show emergency responders scaling down the cliff to reach the trapped patients, whose injuries are unknown.

A NSW Police spokeswoman said it’s believed to a self harm incident.

No further details are currently available.

2GB Radio’s Ray Hadley told his listeners that ‘there’s something going on here’. 

The scenic Portal Lookout is popular with visitors for its gorge and river views with abseiling and climbing options.

The latest incident comes hours after the body of man who vanished while canyoning in the Blue Mountains was found.

The St Ives man, 39, was canyoning with a group at the Wollangambe River at Mount Wilson on Sunday afternoon when he disappeared.

His body was found on Monday morning during a large scale search.
