North Melbourne legend Glenn Archer has plead guilty to assaulting an umpire during his son’s junior footy match.
Kangaroos board member allegedly jumped the fence during his son Jackson’s under 15s match in June to confront the official.
The two-time premiership winner was fined $2,000 after being convicted of unlawful assault and ordered to pay the cost of the umpire’s glasses which broke during the incident.
The 44-year-old will challenge the ruling, telling the court: ‘it’s crazy only 3% of the story was told.’
Archer played over 300 games for North Melbourne before joining the club’s board following his playing career.
He initially admitted to jumping the fence and pushing the umpire, but has since changed his story.
A fight reportedly had broken out on the field prior to Archer involving himself, and he said he ‘went into protection mode.’
