Global superstar confirmed to perform at Melbourne Cup in November: ‘It’s so good to be coming back to Australia’

Sporty Spice Mel C was confirmed on Monday as the headline act at the Melbourne Cup Carnival’s Palooza festival in November.

The pop star, 49, will bring her A-game to the world famous event as she performs a combination of solo and Spice Girls hits to a roaring crowd.

‘It’s so good to be coming back to Australia. The atmosphere there is electric and I could not be happier to return after more than two decades,’ she said in a statement.

‘I’ve always been a big fan of racing and obviously love a music festival so to mix the two and perform at such an iconic Australian event is so exciting. I can’t wait!’

Victoria Racing Club Chief Executive Officer Steve Rosich said the club was thrilled to welcome Mel C to the Palooza stage for TAB Champions Stakes Day.

The English native will be joined by a host of popular club acts including Sneaky Sound System, Felix Da Housecat and Crooked Colours.

Mel C was born Melanie Chisholm and earned the nickname Sporty Spice during her time in the Spice Girls due to her athletic lifestyle and love of sporting wear.

In August, it was reported Mel C joined celebrity dating app Raya, one year after her split from producer ex-boyfriend Joe Marshall.

The Spice Girl was previously in a seven-year relationship with Joe, but the former couple called it quits last summer.

Mel’s Raya account features a series of stunning snaps from her Instagram and lists her interests as travel, food and cycling.

She uses Stevie Wonder’s catchy 1977 hit Sir Duke as the soundtrack for her profile.

A source told The Sun: ‘Mel’s in a really good place. She is loving performing and meeting fans. Meeting someone would just be a bonus.’

Mel C will be performing at Flemington Racecourse on Saturday, November 5.
