Gluten Freedom bread recalled from IGA, Woolworths Metro and other supermarkets

A range of popular gluten-free bread has been recalled due to concerns of plastic being present.

Gluten Freedom bread range was on sale at IGA, independent grocery stores, independent food retailers and well as selected Woolworths Metro stores. 

Some of the items that are part of the recall are: 

The Broken Black Rice & Polenta Sourdough with a Best Before date of February 17, 2024 until March 9, 2024.

The Everything Sourdough Bagels with a Best Before date of March, 1, 2024 until March, 12, 2024.

The affected loaves of Gluten Freedom Bread are sold at selected Woolworths Metro stores, as well as IGA (pictured), independent grocery stores and independent food retailers

The popular items are being pulled due to the presence of plastic which can make people sick or cause an injury

The Splendid Sourdough English Muffin with a Best Before date of February 17 ,2024 until March 9, 2024.

Food Standards Australia said the recall was due to the presence of plastic, which may cause illness or injury if consumed. 

‘Consumers should not eat these products,’ it said.

‘Consumers should return the products to the place of purchase for a full refund.’ 

Food Standards Australia also advised if anyone is concerned about their health they should seek medical advice.
