Cricket legend Wasim Akram has put his Melbourne home up for sale after a happy nine years in the property. 

Akram, who features in Wisden’s all-time Test World XI, has split his time living in the elite Bayside suburb of Brighton with his hometown of Karachi for the past decade. 

Akram and his wife Shaniera have owned the Whyte St home for the past nine years. They initially lived in the property before renting it out last year.

Now the three bedroom home is being put up for auction this weekend. 

‘While there will always be a little part of me that’s attached to this fantastic home, we’re really happy to still be able to live in Brighton and enjoy everything this great area has to offer,’ he said.

Shaniera said the location of the property is perfect for the new owners to enjoy all Brighton has to offer.

‘We’re lucky to have the most incredible community around us in Brighton, and whoever buys this will be able to enjoy the beautiful beaches, the welcoming community and the fantastic schools that make this such a unique and wonderful area,’ she said. 

The property is split over three levels, including a basement cellar and double garage. There is an open plan living zone that leads to a rear deck on the ground floor, 

The bedrooms are situated upstars while the main bedroom comes with a private balcony and an ensuite bathroom.
