Go-To Skincare founder Zoe Foster-Blake releases a chemical sunscreen

Skincare mogul Zoe Foster-Blake releases a $45 chemical sunscreen despite claiming in a blog post from 2013 that the ingredients can ‘mess with your hormones’

  • Zoe Foster-Blake is the founder of multimillion-dollar skincare brand Go-To
  • The 42-year-old never used to be a fan of chemical sunscreens
  • But over the years as cosmetics have developed she has changed her tune
  • The brand has now released a hydrating SPF 50 sunscreen with aloe vera

Australian beauty guru Zoe Foster-Blake is the brains behind the $36million-dollar skincare brand Go-To – and she never used to be a fan of chemical sunscreens.

In 2013 the 42-year-old wrote a blog post warning others that the chemical filters in sunscreen can ‘mess with your hormones’, The Sydney Morning Herald claims.

But since then the busy mum-of-two has released a string of sunscreen products – the latest being a hydrating SPF 50 formulated with Kakadu plum and aloe vera to nourish the skin. It also contains a number of active chemicals.

But over the years as cosmetic products and ingredients have changed, Zoe has changed her believes around chemical sunscreens. Now she's released her own chemical SPF product dubbed 'Nifty Fifty'

But over the years as cosmetic products and ingredients have changed, Zoe has changed her believes around chemical sunscreens. Now she’s released her own chemical SPF product dubbed ‘Nifty Fifty’

Dubbed the ‘Nifty Fifty’ hydrating sunscreen, which costs $45 for a 50mL bottle, it’s designed to protect the skin from damaging UVA/UVB radiation.

In a blog post shared last month, Zoe wrote: ‘Since we began working on sunscreen back in 2013, there have been astonishing advances in UV filters.

‘To ignore these and stick with zinc oxide would be not only ignorant, but unfair to our customers and every other face-owner out there.’

She continues by explaining how the goal was to encourage customers to wear sunscreen every day, all while creating a lightweight product that doesn’t leave a ‘thick white cast’ on your skin.

And with that the hydrating sunscreen was developed, despite it being a chemical sunscreen.

‘To be blunt, the reasons I championed mineral filters for so many years are no longer relevant in lieu of new chemical filters,’ she wrote.

The ‘Nifty Fifty’ product is intended to be used before applying makeup and being exposed to the sun.

It’s formulated with Kakadu plum to protect the skin against ageing, CoQ10 for ‘skin smoothing effects’ and aloe vera for hydration.

Zoe confirmed the product doesn’t contain ‘nasty’ chemical UV filters, such as oxybenzone, avobenzone and octisalate, and is suitable for sensitive skin.

Go-To has also previously released Zincredible SPF 15, which was discontinued in 2020.
