Godalming arrest after woman dies at home

A man has been arrested by police on suspicion of murder after a woman died in a ‘domestic incident’.

The suspect, thought to be in his 50s, was led away from the scene in handcuffs with no top or shirt on.

Surrey Police said the woman was treated for a ‘serious injury’ at the home, in Wey Court, Godalming, but was pronounced dead shortly after the arrival of paramedics.

The man, who was at the property when officers arrived on scene, sustained non-serious injuries and has been taken to hospital.

An air ambulance landed at a football pitch nearby but left the area moments later after it was ascertained that the woman had died from her injuries.

A Surrey Police spokeswoman told MailOnline: ‘We were called to an address in Wey Court around 9.20am today, following reports of a concern for safety.

‘A woman was found at the address with a serious injury. She was treated at the scene by paramedics but was sadly pronounced dead around 10.10am.

‘A man, who was at the same address when police arrived, was also injured. He has been arrested and has been taken to hospital.’
