Gold Coast influencer Ashy Bines reveals devastating news after brain surgery on aneurysm: ‘I can’t count how many times I’ve cried’

Gold Coast influencer Ashy Bines was left devastated following her brain surgery to remove an aneurysm when doctors revealed they found a second one.

The mother-of-two, 35, was diagnosed with a brain aneurysm in March when she was rushed to hospital after experiencing sudden loss of vision, with surgery being scheduled in July before it was pushed back to August.

In a video uploaded to Instagram on Wednesday, Ashy revealed that surgeons removed the first aneurysm, but discovered a second that they were unable to remove in the process.

‘I had my surgery, and it went really well. However, when I woke up, they told me the news that they actually found and discovered another aneurysm,’ she told her followers in an emotional clip which showed her lying in a hospital bed post-surgery.

‘So they treated the original one today, but they couldn’t treat the second one, and I will most likely have to have another surgery before the year’s out.

‘I can’t count how many times I’ve cried because I’m absolutely devastated, but I just have to be strong and know that I can do hard things and get through this.

‘I am so grateful that they’ve found both of these aneurysms and that I can get surgery, because they obviously can be fatal.’

Ashy went on to say the recovery process was much more difficult that she anticipated following her brain surgery, revealing that she has been awake for 28 hours straight.

‘I was not prepared for how hard the post-surgery recovery was – apart from when I was put to sleep for the surgery I’ve now been awake nearly 28 hours straight. Underestimated how mentally and physically [challenging] this would be.’

According to the Mayo Clinic, a brain aneurysm is a bulge on the wall of an artery which fills with blood and can lead to a fatal stroke if ruptured.

Brain aneurysms are common and don’t often reveal any symptoms, but they quickly become life-threatening when ruptured and not treated promptly.

Three months ago, Ashy revealed to fans that she had a brain aneurysm after she lost her sight and went to hospital.

At the time, she posted a video of her arriving with her family and captioned it with some alarming words: ‘I’ve lost my sight three times in the last week. Decided to go to a doctor because we were starting to get worried.

‘Got a CT scan, they found a small aneurysm. Pretty scary as husband Steve has had a huge one removed and I also have this run in my family. Lost a young uncle and a Nan to an aneurysm.’

Ashy added she had the full support of Steve and their children Taj and Tala, both of whom had visited her in the hospital.
