He didn’t seem too flustered by what had happened, either, as he posed for a picture with the firefighters that attended to the plane.

Celebrating Kirsten’s birthday on Wednesday, Norman shared a picture with her from the beach and wrote: ‘Happy B-Day to this most amazing beautiful person who brings joy and brightens the life of all who know her and is my rock.

‘I am blessed to have (her) as my partner in life.’

Norman, a two-time Major champion, is been a controversial figure in recent years in the world of golf due to his role as CEO of LIV Golf, the Saudi-backed breakaway golf league.

He was replaced by Scott O’Neil in 2025 but still works on the organization’s board of directors.

Norman was extremely influential in making LIV the force it is today, recruiting serveal high-profile PGA Tour players to ditch the circuit and sign with LIV.

‘Greg is an icon. He is a friend,’ O’Neil said of Norman in February. ‘He is the reason I’m here today.’

Norman took an intense amount of criticism from Rory McIlroy, who made his disdain for LIV very clear in the early years of the tour’s emergence.

Earlier this week, Norman was celebrating the birthday of his wife Kristen

Speaking about Norman in January, McIlroy appeared to have cooled on his view of the Australian. He said: ‘Greg obviously took a lot of flak in LIV’s first couple of years.

‘He’s probably one of the only people in golf that could have taken on that role. So he got it off the ground and you’ve got to commend him for that.

‘Now it’s time for someone with a bit more experience in this to take over.’
