Google Calendar is back online following a two-hour outage that affected users worldwide

It’s the go-to calendar app for millions of people around the world, but Google Calendar appeared to be having problems this afternoon.

According to Down Detector, the problems started at around 14:30 BST and affected users globally. 

More than 1,400 issues were logged, with two-thirds of users reporting problems with the website. 

MailOnline tried to access the app, and was met with an error message reading: ‘There was an error. Please try again later.’

Google is yet to comment on the cause of the outage.

Of those who reported issues, 77 per cent said they were struggling with the website, while 19 per cent had server connection problems. 

The remaining four per cent said they were having issues with the app. 

Several frustrated users took to X (formerly Twitter) to discuss the outage. 

‘Google Calendar is down, and to be honest, I have absolutely no idea if I have any meetings coming up or not,’ one user wrote.

Another added: ‘Google Calendar is down. I don’t know where I need to be and when, and people can’t book calls with me.’

And one joked: ‘Google Calendar is down. Does this mean we get the rest of the day off? …asking for a friend.’ 

Google Calendar first launched back in 2009, and is now one of the most popular calendar apps around the world.

‘Calendar is designed for teams, so it’s easy to share your schedule with others and create multiple calendars that you and your team can use together.’
