GOP congressman predicts Kamala Harris and Joe Biden will make insulting snub to US military personnel and veterans

The third anniversary of the death of 13 U.S. service members in the botched Afghanistan withdrawal is on Monday – and one congressman predicts that the current administration won’t do nearly enough to honor their sacrifice.

Rep. Mike Waltz (R-Fla.) told DailyMail.com that he doesn’t expect to ‘hear a peep’ from Vice President Kamala Harris and said it’s likely that President Joe Biden might send out an official White House statement.

But that is not enough, noted the first Green Beret to serve in Congress.

Republicans are furious at Biden and Harris for the chaotic, deadly and failed withdrawal from Afghanistan after a 20-year war and fault them with the death of 13 U.S. troops.

‘I don’t think you’re going to hear a peep all this week, and it is such a shame,’ Waltz speculated when asked what he thinks Biden and Harris will do to mark the third anniversary.

President Joe Biden checked his watch as he and First Lady Jill Biden receive the caskets of 13 U.S. service members who lost their lives in the botched troops withdrawal from Afghanistan in August 2021

‘It’s just a real disservice,’ the congressman continued. ‘Maybe at best, you’ll see a statement come out on Monday.’

‘But he has yet to say all their names, he has yet to give the families the answers that they deserve.’

But Waltz makes it clear that Harris is also to blame.

The vice president and 2024 Democratic nominee has repeatedly said she and Biden are satisfied with their decision to take all U.S. forces out of Afghanistan and are pleased with how it was conducted.

She has also said in interviews that she was the last person in the room with Biden before they decided to pull the trigger on the withdrawal and took just as much ownership for the decision as the sitting president.

Staff Sgt. Ryan C. Knauss, 23, of Corryton, Tennessee

Cpl. Hunter Lopez, 22, of Indio, California

Lance Cpl. Dylan R. Merola, 20, of Rancho Cucamonga, California

Navy Corpsman Maxton W. Soviak, 22, of Berlin Heights, Ohio

All were serving in the Marine Corps besides Soviak, who served in the Navy, and Knauss, who was in the Army.

Waltz says the least they can do for the families of the fallen is to allow them in a room with the decision-makers that day to have every single question about that day answered.

‘I mean, if it were me, you know, lock the generals and the diplomats and everybody involved in the room with these families until they run out of questions – they’re owed that,’ he said of what he would like to see from Biden and Harris.

‘What is so damning and what’s so insulting to them is to hear [Biden] describe it as a success and to see zero accountability,’ Waltz lamented in his interview with DailyMail.com in Chicago, Illinois on Wednesday on the sidelines of the Democratic Convention.

‘In fact, the woman in charge of coordinating the evacuation is getting promoted. She’s been nominated to be the ambassador of Iraq,’ he scoffed.

‘So not only is there no accountability, they’re getting elevated and promoted the people responsible. It’s just infuriating.’
