Grace Tame has exposed the disturbing messages she claims are being shared by her ‘cowardly’ teacher who groomed and molested her when she was 15-years-old.
Ms Tame on Monday night took to Twitter to speak out about the ‘open threats and harassment’ she said she’s been receiving for over a decade from Nicolaas Bester.
‘Here he is, the twice-convicted child sex offender, referring to my childhood email, which very few people know, in place of my name,’ she tweeted.
‘It was the login to my old Facebook he and I communicated on. He’s counting down to an act of revenge, planned for the day of my book’s release.’

The advocate for sexual abuse survivors shared screenshots of the bizarre tweets from Bester who warned a ‘good old come-uppance’ was coming for her.
‘Here it comes! Only four weeks to go! The good ol’ come-uppance on it’s way…’ he said before sharing her childhood email address.
Nicolaas Bester was a 58-year-old teacher at St Michael’s Collegiate School, an Anglican girls school in Hobart, when he groomed and abused Ms Tame.
In 2011, the maths teacher was sentenced to two years and 10 months behind bars after pleading guilty to ‘maintaining a relationship with a young person under 17’ and possession of child exploitation material.
Bester served one year and nine months in jail and went on to complain his conviction had cost him ‘everything’ including his reputation in the community.

Ms Tame said she had reported the tweets to police but said Australia’s ‘reactive justice system is too slow’ and that little has changed.
The 27-year-old claim to have been dealing with the threatening messages ‘behind closed doors’ for over a decade and that it’s now time to ‘reclaim her power’.
‘This might not be the ideal platform to address this situation, but if not here, and if not now, then I ask, where and when?’ she said.
‘This is an act of reclaiming my power against a predator operating in plain sight.’
Ms Tame said Bester, who has known her since she was 14, had groomed her into believing she was ‘infatuated’ with him.
He asked her to stay late after school, spend time in his office and even tried to visit her in hospital despite her family’s complaints to the school.

‘I’ve written about our sordid conversations, in which I fawned over him and we arranged to meet,’ Ms Tame wrote.
‘It’s taken years of growth, and studying to understand. The processing is ongoing. I’m not ashamed of any of it now.
‘But he should be. He was an adult who abused his authority.’
Ms Tame said police found a folder of students who were ‘prime grooming candidates’ along with child abuse material on his computer.

In another bizarre tweet, Mr Bester called for former US President Donald Trump to be brought back as well as far-right activist Tommy Robinson before threatening Ms Tame (pictured)
Twitter users were quick to thank the advocate for her honesty and vulnerability.
‘This makes me so angry on your behalf and on behalf of all the other survivors of people like him. I wish I could stop this happening,’ one wrote.
Standing with you every moment of every day. Your courage is something I show my daughters. You give women and girls strength everywhere, another said.
‘I’m horrified that you’re still experiencing threats from this grub. I remain inspired by your strength and wish only the best for you,’ a third shared.

The autobiography follows Tame through her childhood experiences of suffering and exposing her sexual abuse all the way through to her work as an activist.
‘In 2021 Grace stepped squarely into the public eye as the Australian of the Year, and was the catalyst for a tidal wave of conversation and action,’ the description reads.
‘Australians from all walks of life were inspired and moved by her fire and passion. Here she was using her voice, and encouraging others to use theirs too.
‘The Ninth Life of a Diamond Miner is Grace’s story, in Grace’s words, on Grace’s terms. Like Grace, it is sharply intelligent, deeply felt and often blisteringly funny.’
