Grade II-listed cottage seen in The Vicar of Dibley hits market for £900,000 

A Grade II-listed cottage that featured in The Vicar of Dibley has gone on the market for the first time in 60 years for £900,000. 

Church Cottage in the picturesque, Chilterns village of Turville, Buckinghamshire, is adjoined to the fictional home of Reverend Geraldine Granger, played by Dawn French. 

Turville doubled as Dibley in the BBC sitcom from 1994 to 2007.  

The quintessential English village comprises of cottages that date from the 16th century and – situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – is surrounded by idyllic farmland and woodland.

The house is set in the village of Turville, which was the location for Dibley in the BBC’s The Vicar of Dibley starring Dawn French 

Turville has also been the backdrop for many films and television shows, including Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Goodnight Mr Tom, Midsomer Murders and Killing Eve.

The cottage is accessed through the grounds of the church, St Mary the Virgin, which appeared in the Vicar of Dibley as St Barnabus.

It has been the home of one tenant since the early 1960s, marking the first time in more than 60 years since it was last on the market.

But it has been untouched in those decades and does now require a complete renovation.

Savills, who are selling the property, say it is a great opportunity for a new owner who is looking to ‘own a piece of TV history’.

The house has 870 sq ft of living space with a kitchen/breakfast room, sitting room and bathroom on the ground floor, a cellar, and two double bedrooms on the first floor.

Both bedrooms also have a view of the iconic Cobstone Windmill, which appeared in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang as the home of Dick Van Dyke’s character Caractacus Potts.
