A grandmother who traveled to New York a decade ago in hopes of having an ambush makeover has finally gotten her wish after being plucked from the crowd at the Today show plaza.
Anne Streeter, 66, from Liberty, Kentucky, was outside in the freezing cold with her granddaughter Kailey on Thursday when she became one of two women chosen to have a makeover with hairstylist Louis Licari and style expert Jill Martin.
It was an amazing moment for the grandmother who waited ten years to have a second chance at scoring new look on the morning show.
Then and wow! Anne Streeter, 66, from Liberty, Kentucky, received an ambush makeover on the Today show Thursday
Worth it: Anne and her granddaughter Kailey had been planning the trip to New York for the past four years, and they couldn’t have been more excited that she was chosen
Anne’s granddaughter told Jill that she has been planning this trip to New York with her grandmother for four years, so it was ‘totally worth’ standing out in the cold.
‘We’re finally here. My Gammie is going to get glammed,’ she said, with Anne adding: ‘It’s been more than four years, but it is wonderful to be here.’
Anne looked like a new woman when she stepped on stage sporting a bright blonde bob and a flirty cold-shoulder dress.
When Kailey removed her blindfold to catch a glimpse of her grandmother’s transformation, she was nearly speechless.
‘Gammie!?’ she said.
Amazing: Kailey was stunned when her grandmother stepped on stage in a little black dress
Wow: ‘It doesn’t look like me! It’s wonderful!’ Anne said when she checked out her new look for the first time
Stunning: Anne was given a sleek new ‘do, including a brighter shade of blonde
‘Oh my goodness,’ Anne said after seeing her new look for the first time. ‘It doesn’t look like me! It’s wonderful!’
As part of her makeover, Louis lightened the top of her hair and darkened the bottom to give it more variation, while Igor Musayev gave her a sleek haircut.
Jill topped off the look by putting Anne in a black cold-shoulder dress, black tights, and a black belt to cinch her slim waist.
Patty Pedone, 56, from Huntsville, Alabama, also received an ambush makeover on Thursday’s show as part of her ‘year of transformation.’
Before and after: Patty Pedone, 56, from Huntsville, Alabama, also received an ambush makeover on Thursday’s show as part of her ‘year of transformation’
Dream come true: Patty traveled to New York with her husband, LeRoy, who said his wife had wanted an ambush makeover for years
Look of love: ‘Oh babe, you look fantastic,’ he gushed when he saw her new look
For 2018, she is focused on being happier, getting healthier, and, of course, looking her best.
Patty traveled to New York with her husband, LeRoy, who couldn’t have been happier that his wife was chosen to get the makeover she had always wanted.
‘My wife watches the Today show every day, and once in awhile I get to stay home from work and watch it too,’ he explained.
‘She has always wanted to come on and get the makeover. We braved the cold and got out here and it happened. It’s unbelievable.’
Patty, who was just as excited, told Jill she needed a transformation because they were going to see a Broadway show later that night.
Happy as can be: Patty said she ‘absolutely loved’ her makeover when she looked in the mirror
Glowing: Patty’s hair was ultimately kept dark to show off her blue eyes, but she was also given a few face-framing highlights
She oozed confidence as she walked on stage after her makeover, and her husband’s jaw practically dropped when he saw her new look.
‘Oh babe, you look fantastic,’ he gushed, and she was just as impressed.
‘Oh my god, I love it. I absolutely love it,’ she said.
Louis noted that he wanted to keep the depth of her ‘beautiful’ blue eyes, so he left her hair dark while adding a few highlights around her face.
Knowing that she had a date with her husband that night, Jill put her in dark jeans and a red blazer — the perfect outfit for a night on the town.
