Fidget spinners are undoubtedly one of 2017’s runaway successes for kids toys, but that doesn’t mean that they can’t be enjoyed by people of all ages.
It’s a fact that is all but proven by a recent viral post featuring an 85-year-old grandmother looking utterly ecstatic to be receiving one of the tiny gadgets for her birthday.
Joan Szilagyi of Lethbridge, Alberta, recently welcomed a visit from her granddaughter, 20-year-old Fiona Szilagyi, who lives in Calgary, in honor of the special day.

Before the visit, Fiona had accompanied her mother Maria Szilagyi in shopping for gifts. While waiting in the checkout line, the pair of women spotted the fidget spinners.
The ladies decided that the popular toy would make a perfect gag gift for their older relative and picked one up.
Joan had no idea what fidget spinners were, so when she opened the gift, she examined it with curiosity before figuring out just how it worked.

But once it did, it was clear that the grandmother simply couldn’t get enough. She broke into a big grin and laughter, which was captured in a series of pictures.
The images, which show the process of Joan opening her present, were then posted to Fiona’s Twitter account.
‘My grandma got a fidget spinner for her 85th birthday and look how happy she is,’ Fiona wrote in the caption.
In just two days, the tweet has racked up more than 15,000 likes as well as being retweeted 2,000 times.

It also received dozens of responses, many of which praises Joan’s reaction as ‘so cute’, ‘precious’, and ‘pure’.
‘She’s so adorable god bless her!’ wrote one user in response to the tweet, while another said: ‘This made my night – Happy Birthday, Fiona’s Grandma.’
One user even shared her own experience of giving her mother a fidget spinner, writing: ‘This was my grandma’s reaction…she genuinely despised it.’
