Grandson charged with 94-year-old grandmother’s murder

The grandson of a 94-year-old woman found stabbed to death in her care home has been charged with murder.

Former dressmaker Ruby Wilson was found dead at Forest Place nursing home in Buckhurst Hill, Essex, on Wednesday. Antony Jennings, 32, appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court yesterday accused of her murder.

The court heard Mrs Wilson, who had a form of dementia, had been stabbed ‘on both sides’ of her throat and was found at 1.20pm after staff raised the alarm.

Antony Jennings, left, has been charged with the murder of his grandmother Ruby Wilson, right, and is due to appear at Chelmsford Crown Court on Monday

Jennings did not enter a plea and was remanded in custody.

He will appear again at Chelmsford Crown Court on Monday.

Mrs Wilson’s family were last night too devastated to speak. But tributes poured in from friends, who said she and her husband of 70 years, Leslie, had been ‘inseparable’.

The couple lived in Loughton, Essex, before they both went into care.

Forest Place said: ‘Our thoughts are with the family of the resident.’
