- A man reportedly poured accelerant along the fence line of the property
- The blaze stretched for about 15 metres along the Colorbond fence
- The mosque, located in Hallam North, south of Melbourne, was not damaged
- As of Monday morning Victorian police are still attempting to find the arsonist
A suspicious fire has ripped through grass along the outskirts of a Melbourne mosque, with flames stretching 15 metres.
Initial reports suggested that the mosque was attacked with a Molotov cocktail on Saturday night at about 10.30pm, reports 3AW.
But that has since been refuted by Victorian police who claim a man poured an accelerant along the property’s fence line on Belgrave-Hallam Road, south of Melbourne.

It is believed the blaze was started at the baseline of the Colorbond fence causing a fire that stretched for about 15 metres.
However, there was no damage to the mosque itself.
