Green Day abruptly EXIT stage mid-concert in Detroit due to security breach after drone flew into stadium

Green Day were forced to rush off stage mid-song after a security breach during their concert at Comerica Park, Detroit on Wednesday.

The iconic band – comprised of Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool – were playing Longview around 20 minutes into their show at 8.50pm when a stage hand rushed out and grabbed Dirnt – before hurrying him off stage.

Video of the incident shows Billie Joe, 52, watching Dirnt, 52, leave the stage before he stops singing, drops his instrument and runs off the stage.

The confused 35,000 strong-crowd continued singing along as the lights went on in the stadium – with a message onscreen reading: ‘Show Pause. Please standby for details.’

Detroit Police Cpl. Dan Donakowski later told Detroit News: ‘There was an individual that flew a drone into Comerica Park, so Green Day was taken off stage.

‘Shortly after that, they went back on stage to perform. DPD located this individual outside of Comerica Park. He is being detained pending further investigation.’

The band was gone for around 10 minutes before resuming the show,

Billie Joe said on his return to the stage: ‘How you guys doing? Everybody OK?’ before resuming Longview in the same spot before the band’s exit.

After playing Welcome To Paradise Armstrong said: ‘There ain’t no motherf****r that’s gonna stop us, I’ll tell you that.’

After the closing song – Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) – Armstrong quipped: ‘A night we’re all gonna remember.’

The band’s official X account later posted: ‘Detroit! Sorry for the delay in the show tonight, Stadium security had us clear the stage while they dealt with a potential safety issue.

‘DPD quickly resolved the situation, and we were able to continue. Thanks for understanding.’

The band are currently on their Saviors Tour which celebrates the 30th anniversary of debut album Dookie and the 20th anniversary of American Idiot.
