Price hikes: Sticky inflation and a pay rise for workers have driven up costs at Greggs
Greggs has raised the price of its sausage rolls and cheese sandwiches in a bid to offset its soaring wage bill.
Customers will now have to pay more for some of the High Street bakery chain’s goods – even after it hiked prices between 5p and 10p in December and vowed against further increases earlier this year.
But sticky inflation in the UK and a pay rise for workers in January have driven up costs at Greggs.
The price of its sausage rolls and vegan alternative are 5p higher alongside increases for cheese sandwiches.
Half-year results from Greggs show revenues rose 13.8 per cent to £960.6million in the six months to June 29 and profits increased 16 per cent to £74.1million.
