Police will today give testimony as the second day of evidence in the Grenfell Tower Inquiry gets underway.
The probe into how the North Kensington tower block was engulfed in flames has now moved into a fact-finding stage after hearing commemorations for victims.
The inquiry yesterday heard of an astonishing litany of safety breaches that led to the devastating blaze in June last year.
The hearing noted a ‘culture of non-compliance’ appeared to exist in the maintenance of the tower and that two types of cladding and four different insulation layers did not comply with building regulations.
Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn later said that he was ‘constantly shocked’ by the revelations as he criticised the Conservatives for failing to act sooner.
Today, the inquiry will hear from Jeremy Johnson QC for the Metropolitan Police as well as a number of lawyers representing the bereaved.
