Grieving Aubrey Plaza surfaces weeks after painful secret was revealed following husband’s suicide

Aubrey Plaza was spotted walking her dog in Los Angeles over the weekend, months after her husband Jeff Baena committed suicide.

The 40-year-old actress — who was also seen out in late March — put on a brave face as she was joined by a female friend in the city’s Los Feliz neighborhood.

Plaza, who was separated from Baena at the time of his death at age 47, wore a pair of light blue New Balance sweat shorts and a coordinating blue tie-dye T-shirt.

She kept a low-profile as she sported a Phillies baseball cap and round, black sunglasses.

The Parks and Recreation alum tied a white sweatshirt around her waist and stepped out ivory-colored sneakers.

Plaza and Baena had been separated since September 2024, an LA County Medical Examiner’s autopsy report obtained by DailyMail.com revealed.

She was living in New York when his body was discovered on January 3. 

The report detailed that the Life After Beth director had been ‘experiencing marital difficulties’ in his final months, and was in therapy.

It was noted in the documents that Plaza, whose name was redacted in the final report, said she had spoken with Baena the night before he took his life.

The report also tragically revealed that Plaza had been concerned for her estranged husband’s wellbeing.

‘In October 2024, Baena made concerning remarks to [Plaza] which prompted her to call a friend to perform a welfare check on her husband. Baena had been attending therapy since that event,’ the paperwork stated.

The medical examiner’s report also determined that Baena did not have drugs or alcohol in his system at the time of his death.

It stated that Plaza ‘knew her husband to be alive’ as of January 3 because he had sent her a text message that morning.

The actress’ first public appearance since Baena’s death was at February’s SNL 50 special, where she silently paid tribute to Baena by wearing his tie-dye shirt

The report indicated that a dog walker discovered Baena’s body after hearing loud music coming from his home, which she said was ‘unusual.’

After she called him and didn’t get an answer, she entered the home and discovered his remains.

Shortly after his death, a representative for Plaza said in a statement obtained by DailyMail.com: ‘This is an unimaginable tragedy. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has offered support. Please respect our privacy during this time.’

Baena, who graduated with a film degree from New York University, got hands-on experience with major filmmakers when he worked as a production assistant for Robert Zemeckis and an assistant editor for David O. Russell.
