A grime artist who allegedly ‘derived satisfaction and sexual pleasure’ from torturing and raping four women told one victim to put her hand in a blender.

Andy Anokye, 31, who performs under the stage name Solo45, denies 31 charges – including 22 counts of rape – against him at Bristol Crown Court.

The charges relate to four complainants and also include five counts of false imprisonment.

Anokye, who performs with the grime collective Boy Better Know, also denies two charges of assault by penetration and two charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

Christopher Quinlan QC told the jury that Anokye ruthlessly committed the offences over a two-year period.

Mr Quinlan said the women ‘genuinely and honestly’ individually recounted how they experienced abuse at Anokye’s hands.

He said Anokye recorded sexual acts on his mobile phone, and committed sexual and physical violence on the women.

The abuse involved a knife or knives and an ‘interrogation’ of the women and their mobile phones, he claimed.

‘A particular feature of this interrogation was the water-boarding – placing a flannel or towel over their mouth and once in place, pouring water on to the flannel or towel,’ Mr Quinlan said.

‘The prosecution’s case is that he appears to derive satisfaction and sexual pleasure from inflicting pain and suffering on these four women.

‘He tortured and sexually violated each of them. His domination was physical and mental and it left each of them in fear.’

Mr Quinlan said that Anokye filmed the alleged abuse because he was confident the women would not disclose what had happened.

He told the jury Anokye ‘beat and frightened’ the women into submitting to his sexual demands.

The court previously heard Anokye searched online for dacryphilia, where people are aroused by others in pain.

Anokye was arrested after one woman told a police officer he had assaulted and raped her at his flat in Bristol.

Mr Quinlan said the woman had gone to the waterfront property, where Anokye became aggressive towards her.

After detaining the woman, Anokye placed bleach on a cloth and put it over her face, the court heard.

‘He told her if she passed out, she would wake up and think she was in a horror movie,’ Mr Quinlan said.

‘He put the cloth over her face and mouth. You can imagine the terror. He strangled her with her own coat.’

Jurors were told Anokye slapped the woman and spat on her before asking her to put her hand in a blender.

After leaving the flat, the woman met a friend who noticed she was upset and smelt of bleach, the court heard.

Mr Quinlan said the woman disclosed the abuse to other friends, including a police officer.

She was later interviewed by officers from Avon and Somerset Police.

Anokye was arrested and told officers he and the woman had parted on ‘decent terms’ after having sex.

‘He said his sex with her was rough, strong and energetic but it was not one-sided,’ Mr Quinlan said.

‘He said she was a willing participant in what he described as sex games, role play.

‘He says the same in relation to each of the four complainants.’

Jurors have previously heard that the four women in the case do not know each other.

Anokye, of Millennium Promenade, Bristol, denies all the charges against him and the case continues.
