Grimes reveals that she’s battling COVID-19 and admits she is ‘weirdly enjoying the DayQuil fever dream’

Grimes has revealed that she has contracted the novel coronavirus.

The 32-year-old singer made the announcement nonchalantly in her Instagram Stories, where she she joked that she was ‘weirdly enjoying’ her sick time.

Missing from her post was any update on whether her partner Elon Musk, 49, or their baby son X Æ A-Xii, eight months, had been infected.

Grimes’ case of the virus appears to be relatively mild based on her low-key statement.

‘Finally got COVID but weirdly enjoying the DayQuil fever dream 2021,’ she captioned her post, adding a plant and fairy emoji.

The singer included a screenshot of the single artwork for SZA’s new song Good Days, which was released on Christmas and seemed to be soundtracking the electronic musician’s recovery.

‘This song is soooo…’ she wrote, before trailing off with planet and star, heart and dragon emojis.

The Canadian songstress, whose real name is Claire Boucher, is coming off a new period of activity after she released an updated version of her most recent album Miss Anthropocene on New Year’s Day.

The ‘Rave Edition’ was outfitted with more club-friendly remixes of most of the tracks, aside from two tracks that already fit the bill in their original incarnations.

The original version of the critically acclaimed album dropped in February 2020, after Grimes spent two years working on it.

Grimes and her partner Elon Musk began dating in 2018 after bonding over a shared joke on Twitter.

She and the Tesla CEO welcomed their first child, given the abstract name X Æ A-Xii, in May of 2020.

In recent months, Musk has come under fire on social media for some of his recent socially conservative posts, particularly in regard to online censorship and transgender rights.

‘I absolutely support trans, but all these pronouns are an esthetic nightmare,’ he complained on Twitter on December 16 in response to an opinion piece critical of him.

The post led to the businessman being mocked mercilessly on Twitter by users who pointed out that his child’s name might also qualify as an ‘aesthetic nightmare.’

‘You named your child x æ a-12 and you want to call PRONOUNS an aesthetic nightmare????’ wrote one user.

Another joked that, ‘elon musk named his baby X Æ A-12 but people having pronouns is where he draws the line.’

The SpaceX founder recently saw his fortune expand to the point that he toppled Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos as the wealthiest man in the world.

Musk currently sits atop the Bloomberg Billionaires Index with a total net worth of $209 billion, while Bezos is second richest with $186 billion and Bill Gates comes in third with $134 billion.
