Groom-to-be denies he was boasting to friends of Ibiza holiday romances

A groom-to-be claims a stranger’s viral Facebook post that claimed he had cheated on his fiancée while on holiday in Ibiza has ‘ruined his life’.

Jack Troutt, 23, was enjoying a lad’s holiday on the party island and had been sharing stories with pals about previous relationships while sat around the pool.

However fellow holidaymaker Steph Kendall was allegedly on a nearby sun lounger and overheard the lads’ chat.

Jack, a legal firm worker, believes Steph misheard what he was saying and thought he was talking about the previous night – immediately putting a post up instructing his fiancée to ‘bin him’.

When he saw the post, Jack said he was bewildered by the accusation and rushed to explain to his partner that it was untrue, who was waiting for him back in the UK.

The devastated fiance says his relationship with his beautiful bride-to-be is now at risk and he doesn’t know if she will still want to be with him when he returns home this weekend.

The erroneous post read: ‘If this is your boyfriend Jack staying at the Azuline Bergantin hotel Ibiza him and his friends have been proudly discussing that he cheated on you last night Hun #binhim.’

The post quickly went viral and received more than 10,000 likes and more than 15,000 shares, with people eventually locating Jack online.

Meanwhile, Love Island’s Kady McDermott tweeted the image of Jack with the accusation to her 357,000 followers, where it quickly started the hashtag #binhim on Twitter too.

Jack said when he confronted Steph in the hotel to explain she had misheard him, he claims she walked away from him – and the post continued to be shared on Facebook.

Steph, from the North East, claims she removed the post on Tuesday afternoon – around 24 hours after it had been shared.

Now Jack is bravely speaking out and calling for tougher regulations on social media users accusing people of things that ‘ruin their lives with no concrete evidence’.

Jack, from Essex, said: ‘It’s devastating because I haven’t done anything wrong.

‘I haven’t had any sexual relations with a woman on this holiday.’

Despite having named and shamed Jack herself, she demanded not be named in the article 'without her permission'

He continued: ‘I haven’t kissed another woman or even kissed another woman on the cheek on this holiday. It’s literally bizarre.

‘In the post she claims I said I slept with someone the previous night.

‘I have two mates of mine who were witnesses there and those sentences never came out of my mouth.

‘She’s posted a picture of me online, written a status, done a hashtag saying ”bin him”, and now it’s gone absolutely viral.

‘[The post is] more or less going to cripple my relationship. It’s more or less crippled right now to be honest.

‘My partner is talking about how she’s not willing to even get married.

‘It’s really upsetting. She’s more or less almost cost me my future marriage. It’s got to that point now.

‘I can understand it from [my partner’s] point of view because if it happened to me, if there was a photo going about saying that she’d said she’d slept with a bloke the previous night, I’d be exactly the same.

‘I’d be really embarrassed and I’d be considering breaking up the relationship as well, like anyone would.’

He continued: ‘At the moment I’m clutching onto straws to try and keep everything together, but it’s really difficult. She may not want to be with me by the time I get back.’

Jack proposed to his girlfriend in January 2017 and has been in a relationship with her for two years.

The distraught holidaymaker was inundated with messages from people who realised the picture was him – and he even worries that his boss at work now knows.

Jack said: ‘I am upset. I’m really upset about the whole situation.

‘I am distraught. I am depressed. I am devastated, shocked. I’m in a lot of pain really, emotionally. The story is not true.

‘I don’t even know her, she was just sitting on a sunbed next to me while I was talking to a couple of mates about previous relationships and stuff like that.

‘Somehow she claims to have heard me specifically say that I slept with a girl last night.

‘When I confronted her face to face she couldn’t tell me what I said.

‘For me, that just makes me wonder how she’s come to this point that she’s able to say I said these words.

‘I haven’t done anything wrong to her, I haven’t abused her in any way, I haven’t said any names to her in any way.

‘I tried to confront her and at the same time she just kept walking away from me.

‘I said listen, you’ve got to get this post down, it’s not true. She just walked away. I called her up through Facebook and she just said ‘okay hun, bye’.

‘I’ve got friends and family all contacting me asking me if I’m alright because of the amount of abuse I’m receiving from people all over the country.

‘I am sure I am not the first person this has happened to and I know I won’t be the last.

‘I think there should be some sort of law or regulation put in place to say how you can make an allegation like that without having anything set in stone.

‘I just think something needs to be put in place where posts like that where you could ruin people’s lives without having the concrete evidence.

‘I’ve reported this post to Facebook a thousand times but they’re just not responding. They’re just letting it keep getting shared and shared and shared.

‘The whole point of it I thought, the point she was trying to prove, was to get it to my other half.

‘She could have sent a direct message to my other half to tell her rather than post it all over social media.

‘It’s affecting everyone I know and love. It’s causing a lot of stress for myself, my partner, my family as well. I just never thought something like this would happen to me.’

When contacted for comment, Steph said: ‘The post has now been removed.

‘I did actually speak to Jack regarding it and the post was already deleted and I’ve gave him the opportunity to speak to me about it personally.’
