Twelve years after scoring the first goal of Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea reign, Eidur Gudjohnsen enjoyed a heartfelt reunion with his former boss.
The legendary pair, who spent a profitable two years together in west London between 2004 and 2006, looked delighted as they shared a hug this week.
The moment was shared by Gudjohnsen on his Instagram page, as he headed to Carrington for a chat with the now-Manchester United manager.

The pair first worked together at Chelsea when Mourinho arrived in 2004, with Gudjohnsen netting the first goal of the new era, against Manchester United, no less.
It turned into a hugely successful two seasons, with the club winning back-to-back Premier League titles and coming close to a Champions League triumph too.
Gudjohnsen can also count a League Cup and a Community Shield win under Mourinho, but the pair did not manage to work together again.
Two years after Mourinho’s arrival, the Icelandic forward was sold to the manager’s former club Barcelona, to the tune of £8million.

It seems there has been no love lost over the years though, as the pair embraced in a warm hug at Carrington this week.
Mourinho himself has enjoyed a remarkable career since Gudjohnsen’s exit, taking in the sights of Milan and Madrid, before another spell at Chelsea from 2013 to 2015.
Now, though, he finds himself in with a real shot of title success at Manchester United, albeit without an Icelandic forward to call upon in times of need.
Alas, Belgium’s Romelu Lukaku will have to do.
