Gunman shoots and kills a man in a hail of bullets that also hit a school bus and another bus with dozens of passengers onboard

  • A 32-year-old man was shot, taken to a hospital and later died from his injuries

  • An MTA bus with dozens of passengers was also hit by bullets, authorities said

A gunman fatally shot a man in a hail of bullets that also hit two buses, including a school bus, following an argument in a New York City neighborhood on Tuesday. 

New York police said the incident occurred around 8.45am near Pennsylvania and Dumont avenues in East New York, Brooklyn.

The 32-year-old man was shot at the intersection of the avenues after getting into an argument with the gunman. 

He was rushed to the Brookdale University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.

Authorities said a school bus with one child on board was also struck by several bullets. 

A B20 MTA bus, that was carrying dozens of passengers, was also hit by gunfire. 

Sources told NBC 4 that the gunman opened fire from across one of four school buildings in the area. None of the passengers on the buses were injured during the incident.

The Department of Education said in a statement that police and EMS immediately responded to the scene.

‘We immediately notified the family and will provide any additional support needed,’ the statement reads.  

Police have not made any arrests in the incident and the investigation is ongoing.
