Guy Pearce and on-screen sweetheart Annie Jones look smitten as they reunite on the set of Neighbours

Guy Pearce and Annie Jones stole the show on the Neighbours finale last year when they reprised their respective characters Mike and Jane for the iconic drama’s swansong. 

And now it appears the beloved actors are set to continue their love story in the highly anticipated reboot.

A new promotional image shows Guy, 55, in character on the Melbourne set alongside co-star Annie, 56.

In the frame, he is seen staring into the distance as Annie clutches his jacket and looks at his rugged face adoringly.

The Memento star cuts a dashing figure in a grey T-shirt and unbuttoned checked shirt, paired with a classic denim jacket. He completed his look with a blue scarf.

His salt and pepper locks are freshly styled as the couple stand in front of a scenic nature backdrop.

Meanwhile, Annie is seen wearing a quilted navy jacket and a checked scarf.  

Executive producer Jason Herbison confirmed in May that Pearce would reprise his role on the soap opera, which was rebooted in April, and is being filmed Melbourne.

‘We are delighted that Guy is returning to continue Mike and Jane’s reunion, it was a highlight of last year’s finale and (there is) definitely more story to tell for these much-loved characters,’ Herbison said in a statement to The Sun Herald.

Pearce returned to Neighbours for the show’s finale in July last year. 

His character, along with Jane Harris (portrayed by Annie Jones), was seen purchasing a home on Ramsay Street during the show’s last episode.

Pearce also confirmed the new during Nine’s Good Weekend podcast. 

Despite Pearce’s soaring career since his debut on Neighbours as a 17-year-old novice, his return to the show was a remarkable display of goodwill.

The Neighbours reboot premieres Monday, September 18 on Channel 10
