Gwen Stefani’s bad cell connection leads to awkward blind date with Blake Shelton in Super Bowl ad

Gwen Stefani said yes back in October, when The Voice costar Blake Shelton popped the question.

And the three-time Grammy winner recently gave a glimpse at their love story, while planning their upcoming nuptials.

She didn’t appear to be in love at first sight with her country crooner fiancé, as their fellow Voice coach Adam Levine played matchmaker in a hilarious Super Bowl commercial for T-Mobile.

The 51-year-old could be seen rocking a leopard-print coverup by a hotel pool ‘a few years ago,’ as she FaceTimed with Levine, 41.

‘I think I’m ready to start dating again,’ she told the Maroon 5 frontman, explaining: ‘I’m sick of LA guys. I want someone completely different, maybe from another country, and someone cultured and sensitive, who’s not threatened by a strong, confident woman.’

It then showed what Levine heard with his ‘spotty network,’ as Stefani said: ‘I’m sick of LA guys. I want someone completely… country… uncultured and… threatened by a strong, confident woman.’

As fate would have it, Shelton, 44, walked by Levine in a diner at that very moment, his hands full of food, as he sang: ‘It’s not wings or nachos. It’s wings and nachos!’

They were both equally surprised (and possibly disgusted) to end up on a blind date together, as Stefani said: ‘Oh my god. Hilarious, right? I mean… no.’

‘What do you mean?’ Shelton asked, as she looked him up and down, asking: ‘Are you wearing spurs? Did you ride a horse here?’

The happy couple appeared to be in on the joke, as the narrator advised: ‘Don’t trust your love life to just any network.’

Stefani and Shelton first met when she made her debut on the coaches panel during season seven of The Voice in 2014, later making their relationship official in November of 2015.

They recently announced their engagement in October, as she posted a photo of herself kissing her husband-to-be and showing off her rock at his ranch in Tishomingo, Oklahoma, writing on Instagram: ‘@blakeshelton yes please! gx’

The No Doubt singer recently told ET Canada that she’s still in disbelief over their engagement: ‘I never expected that this would be where I’m at. It’s hard for me to even say I’m getting married. I’m like, so in the middle of my life.’

She added of planning her nuptials during a pandemic: ‘We can’t really plan the wedding because we don’t know what’s happening. I think we’re just sort of putting a target date out there and seeing if we can work backwards.’
