A man who was lured to a secluded park and robbed at knife-point has himself been charged after revealing to police it wasn’t just his money the thieves stole.

John Albert Iddles, from Gympie, north of Brisbane, had gone to smoke meth at a local oval with three people before he was set upon, The Gympie Times reported.

The 28-year-old labourer reported the incident to police and told them the knife-wielding thieves robbed him of his cash – and his drugs.

‘The circumstances in which your offending came to light are quite unusual,’ Justice Sue Brown said on Wednesday, according to the publication.

Iddles reportedly owed money to a 17-year-old girl who he agreed to meet. But two men not known to him were also at the oval when he arrived.

‘You were then set upon. They robbed you after physically harming you,’ Justice Brown said.

When he reported the incident, police warned Iddles about the potential consequences of making any admissions, Brisbane Supreme Court reportedly heard.

But Iddles admitted that he had bought 0.2g of methylamphetamine for $50, according to the paper.

He pleaded guilty to supplying the drug ice and was also a charged with supply to a minor.

Iddles was convicted and given nine months’ probation.
