Halsey hopes President Trump watches her empowering poem

She gave one of the most empowering speeches at Saturday’s Women’s March in New York City.

And after taking the podium that same day, Halsey – real name Ashley Nicolette Frangipane – had a message for President Donald Trump while arriving to the Los Angeles International Airport.

The 23-year-old singer told a TMZ photographer: ‘I hope he [President Trump] watches my f**king speech!’

Called out! Halsey – real name Ashley Nicolette Frangipane – had a message for President Donald Trump while arriving to the Los Angeles International Airport on Saturday

Halsey’s poem tackled the issue of sexual assault by sharing her personal experiences with the audience.

The Bad At Love singer addressed the large crowd in Central Park. ‘I don’t really know how to do a speech unless it rhymes, so I’m going to do a little poem for you guys. This is the beginning, not the finale and that’s why we’re here, that’s why we rally.’

An emotional Halsey continued with a timeline of incidents that sexual assault occurred in her life.

The star explained on camera that she was satisfied that so many people resonated with the poem and said, ‘It was very scary but I’m glad I did it. It was important.’

She means business! The 23-year-old singer told a TMZ photographer: 'I hope he [President Trump] watches my f**king speech!'

Halsey went on: ‘The response online seems even better. I feel like today was a little bit of a win after a long, long, long battle.’

Her response to Trump is timely after the President has kept silent in the wake of multiple sexual abuse revelations in Hollywood.

The 23-year-old posted the video of her speech with the caption: ‘Here is my entire A Story Like Mine poem from today’s #WomensMarch2018 in NYC tw: rape / assault. This was really hard for me to do but I’m glad I did it. Thank you guys. This is why we rally.’

The five-minute speech grew major attention and support on social media, and Halsey stated that she hopes it  ‘chips away’ at the bigger issue.

The New Jersey native also took part in last year’s Women’s March and donated $100,000 to Planned Parenthood – who she addressed helped her in the midst of her own sexual assault experiences.

President Trump has weighed in on the Women’s March with a tweet that is certain to rile the tens of thousands of fired-up protesters marching against him across the country.

As processions of pink, ‘pussy’ hats and illustrations asking for him to be impeached made their way through the nation’s many cities, Trump ignored their complaints about him and said: ‘Beautiful weather all over our great country, a perfect day for all Women to March.

‘Get out there now to celebrate the historic milestones and unprecedented economic success and wealth creation that has taken place over the last 12 months.

‘Lowest female unemployment in 18 years!’

The marches mark a year since the first march and coincide with President Trump’s one year anniversary in office.

This year, the marches also take on the momentum of the Me Too and Time’s Up movements against sexual misconduct which were sparked with allegations against Hollywood heavyweights last year.

They also coincide with a government shutdown.

Some 250 cities across the world are planning to play host to some form of march on Saturday.

Many of the protests were directed towards Trump’s immigration policies and his plans for DACA which shut down the government on Friday night when Democrats refused to move forward with talks.

In Rome, Asia Argento led a group of marchers through the city. Argento was the first woman to go on the record to accuse the disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein of rape in October.

Countless women followed with claims against the 65-year-old.

‘People were pretty damn mad last year and they’re pretty damn mad this year,’ said Tamika Mallory, co-president of the Women’s March board.

Like last year, thousands of marchers donned pink knit ‘pussy hats’, which were created last year after the president’s infamous ‘grab them by the p***y’ hot mic remark was made public.

They became a symbol for the disdain thousands of women carried and still harbor against the president.
