Hamden man says he beat mother and burned her body in fire pit

A man has admitted to beating his mother to death with a baseball bat before burning her body in a fire pit for eight hours because he feared she was trying to poison him.

Kyle Tucker, 34, is charged with killing his 60-year-old mother Donna Tucker at their home in Hamden, Connecticut last week.

The horrific details surrounding her brutal death were released by police on Monday as Tucker was arraigned at Meriden Superior Court.

Tucker allegedly told police that he bashed his mother’s head with a baseball bat and then set fire to her body in the backyard of her home.

He had earlier made up a story that his mother had fled the home in the early hours of Thursday morning with a man after drinking heavily.

After hearing the unlikely story, Donna’s sister reported her missing on Friday. The sister told investigators she was concerned about Tucker’s deteriorating mental health and that an urn for human ashes had been ordered on Amazon the day before Donna went missing.

Tucker’s brother also reported seeing a series of bizarre tweets saying that Kyle knew he was his mother’s least favorite son.

Police said they went to the home on Friday and spoke with Tucker before making the gruesome fire pit discovery in the backyard.

They found Donna’s skeletal remains and her smashed skull burned in the pit.

When police took Tucker to be interviewed, he allegedly admitted to making up the story about his mother leaving with a man. He confessed to beating her to death, dragging the body outside and setting it alight.

Court records said he described then scrubbing the kitchen clean with chemicals and repainting a wall after he couldn’t wash off his mother’s blood.

Investigators said Tucker thought his mother was trying to poison him and claimed that he said, ‘God got into my body,’ before he struck his mother.

Police said another of Donna’s sons responded to police inquiries about what happened by saying, ‘My brother killed my mother’.

Tucker was charged with his mother’s murder on Saturday.

He is being held on $5 million bail until a June 19 court appearance.
