Hamilton Hill crash: Shock admission from motorcyclist who crashed into a brick wall after travelling at double the speed limit, killing his girlfriend

A motorcyclist who lost control at high speed and ploughed into a brick fence outside a home in a horrific crash that claimed his girlfriend’s life has faced court.

Shane Edward Norris, 32, pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Ashlee Kathleen Giacomini, 31, at a hearing in Perth’s Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court on Wednesday.

Norris only spoke to confirm his name and to indicate how he pleaded to the charge, the West Australian reported.

Court documents revealed Norris was travelling twice the speed limit at more than 100km/h when he hit a speed bump on Pilgrim Way at Hamilton Hill in Perth’s south-west on October 20 last year.

Norris lost control and hit a kerb before slamming into a brick wall which threw the couple off the motorcycle.

Ms Giacomini, who was sitting on the pillion behind Norris, was flung onto the front lawn of a nearby property. She suffered brain injuries and was rushed to Royal Perth Hospital, where she never regained consciousness and died 11 days later.

The court heard that Norris admitted during a police interview he was speeding at the time of the crash.

Norris also admitted in his statement to police that he didn’t have a valid driver’s licence, smoked cannabis earlier that morning and had taken methamphetamine the night before.

Chilling CCTV footage captured the moment Ashlee Giacomini landed on the side of her body as she lay motionless on the grass following the horror crash (pictured)

Results from subsequent blood samples revealed both drugs were in his system.
