They were recently announced as ambassadors for Tourism Australia’s new Holiday Here This Year campaign.

And on Thursday, Hamish Blake and his wife Zoe Foster Blake had an awkward interview on Channel Nine’s Today show as they urged Aussie to travel.

During the cross, host Karl Stefanovic made a cringeworthy joke when he asked Hamish about a TV advert featuring the couple sitting in a bar overlooking Sydney’s Harbour Bridge.

In the ad, the pair call up various celebrity friends to discuss what Hamish should get for his mate and comedy partner Andy Lee.

However, when Hamish tries to call NRL legend Johnathan Thurston, he is rejected.

‘Hamish, there was an embarrassing moment and JT has rejected a few of my calls over the years,’ Karl joked.

‘Yes it was disappointing and that has just been played over and over and over again. Although just the fact I’m in his phone I can take as a compliment,’ Hamish said.

Elsewhere during the interview, Hamish and Zoe kept interrupting each other as they discussed gift ideas.

‘This is the time where people have been buying a lot of stuff during lockdown and now it’s time to buy memories and experiences for people,’ Zoe said.

Hamish continued: ‘Totally, perfect present. If you’ve got enough laundry baskets, give someone an incredible experience.’

Zoe interrupted: ‘Give them a brunch on a plane.’

‘Or an experience of a winery, a tour, a trip away or whatever it might be, just get them out there,’ she added.
