Nestled in a quiet street in the picturesque Lancashire village the hotel may seem rather unassuming. 

However, The Royal At Heysham is the perfect reason to visit this coastal village where guests can can experience its comfortable rooms, beautiful seaside location and moreish food.

The inn at began life in the 16th century as a grain store before it was transformed into a pub a century later.

Today, it has been restored as part of a multi-million-pound investment by Daniel Thwaites, providing 11 rooms, many of which have retained unique and original features.

Guests are instantly welcomed by friendly staff as soon as they step inside.

Rooms, which are all en-suite, offer White Company toiletries that make any feel luxurious as well as homely touches; biscuits and cold flasks of milk to make tea and coffee.

The sweeping coastline between Heysham and Morecambe is a mere couple of hundred yards from the front door.

The walk is flat with playparks and shops along the way for the younger members of the family who might need a pit-stop.

And no visit to the area would be complete without a visit to the Eric Morecambe statue on the seafront of the famous town.

Unveiled by the Queen in 1999, it shows the comic in one of his characteristic poses, with a pair of binoculars around his neck and still draws in crowds!

Day-trippers can also take a ferry from Heysham over to the Isle of Man to explore.

And at the end of a long day guests can enjoy award winning food at The Royal at Heysham where menus have been crafted to include locally sourced ingredients.
