Happy birthday Prince Daniel! Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden shares unseen photo of husband as he turns 51

The Swedish Royal Household shared a previously unseen image of Prince Daniel to mark his 51st birthday on Sunday.

In the photograph, which was shared to the family’s official Instagram handle, Daniel smiled towards the camera in Jämtland – the second largest province in Sweden.

The royal was enjoying a private trip with his wife, Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden, when the image was taken.

The royal, who shares two children with Victoria, was dressed in hiking gear and appeared to be enjoying the outdoors.

The caption explained: H.K.H. Prince Daniel turns 51 today. Congratulations! The picture is taken by H.K.H. The Crown Princess on a private visit to Jämtland.’

The Swedish royal household took to Instagram on Sunday to mark Prince Daniel’s 51st birthday

Daniel looked smart in a navy jumper, matching t-shirt, and casual blue cap in the image.

Royal fans flocked to the comment section to send their well wishes to Daniel on his 51st birthday.

Sunday was a busy day in the royal calendar, with the Duke of Sussex and Queen Letizia also celebrating their birthdays.

It comes after Sweden’s royal family appeared to enjoy an action-packed couple of days earlier this month.

On 8 September, Prince Oscar, eight, accompanied by his father, Prince Daniel, got stuck in with various sporting activities at the annual Pep Day at Haga Park in Stockholm.

The young boy appeared in high spirits as he played table tennis, mini golf and raced on stilts in the sunshine.

The father-son duo enjoyed the games as part of an initiative launched by Daniel, 51, to spread information about the benefits of exercise for young people.

Meanwhile, one day prior, Queen Silvia, 80, Crown Princess Victoria, and her daughter Princess Estelle took to Paris to support Sweden’s team competing in the Paris Paralympics.

The royal trio were all smiles as they attended a reception with the team at the Swedish Embassy in Paris.

For the occasion, the wife of King Carl Gustaf cut an elegant figure in a navy suit and a white blouse.

Meanwhile, Victoria, 47, and Estelle, 12, opted for more casual attire and donned matching Team Sweden t-shirts with trousers and white trainers.

During the reception, the royals and Swedish Ambassador Håkan Åkesson met with Sweden’s Paralympians and celebrated the team’s medals.

Victoria and Estelle looked delighted to meet Swedish Para-cyclist Anna Beck and Nicolina Pernheim Goodrich, a blind Swedish Paralympic judoka.

It comes after Victoria and Daniel shared rare family holiday photos with their children Estelle and Oscar.

The royal couple – who have been married 14 years – did not specify where exactly they went with their young family but hinted they remained in Sweden this summer.

The Royal Family’s Instagram caption read: ‘Summer is short, but there is still time to enjoy sunny August days around Sweden.

‘Here the Crown Princess family shares some private photographs from the past summer holiday.’

The accompanying Instagram Reel opened with a photo of the family-of-four posing on a balcony in front of a sunset.

The future Queen, 47, cut a casual figure in low-rise jeans, a white ribbed cardigan and trainers.

Meanwhile, Daniel, 51, looked equally relaxed in grey jeans and a navy-and-white Varsity jacket.

The Reel then jumps to a photo of Victoria posing for a photo with Oscar, eight, while they visiting some ruins.

The mother-of-two – who was wearing a Levi denim jacket and jeans – is captured cuddling her son as they beam at the camera.

The post also included a selfie of Victoria, Estelle, 12, and the family’s cavapoo – which is a mix between a poodle and King Charles spaniel – on a beach.

The future Queen looked casual for the dog walk in a navy sweatshirt and swept her hair back into a ponytail like her daughter.

The Reel also included several photos of the family picking fruit and vegetables – with Victoria posing for a selfie with a jug full of hand-picked blueberries while her children gathered peppers.

The final family photo shows Crown Princess Victoria curled up in a blanket with her two children and Rio as a lantern flickers behind them.

The post has amassed over 77,000 ‘likes’ within 24 hours and royal fans gushed over the more candid images.

One wrote: ‘Wonderful!! I’m glad to see these ‘everyday pictures’ of an otherwise so watched family. Nice that they get to live a little ‘ordinary’ too.’

‘Beautiful,’ another added: ‘Such a happy family!’

Meanwhile, a third said:’The sweetest family ever!!!’

A fourth added: ‘You are a fantastic family and equally fantastic representatives of Sweden.’

Earlier this year, it was announced that Crown Princess Victoria would be completing more military training.

The training is part of preparations for her future role as head of state, the Royal Court said in a statement in April.

‘The Crown Princess will during autumn 2024 begin special officer training to acquire a deeper understanding of tactics, military science and military strategy,’ it said.

The course involves both theoretical and practical learning. Sweden joined NATO in March, after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine forced it to rethink its national security policy.
