Radio host Kyle Sandilands has come out swinging after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey aired in Australia overnight.
Kyle, who is a monarchist, said he didn’t think Meghan was lying about the important details in her interview, but was skeptical when she claimed to be unaware of certain royal traditions – such as how to curtsy properly – before meeting the Queen for the first time.
These formalities among British royalty are common knowledge even to Americans, he argued, and don’t require special training.
Having his say: Radio host Kyle Sandilands has come out swinging after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey aired in Australia overnight
‘That’s bulls**t,’ he said on The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Tuesday morning. ‘That’s just bulls**t. You’d at least Google [it]. I don’t believe it.’
Kyle, 49, and his co-host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson also doubted Meghan’s claim that the Duchess of Cambridge had ‘made her cry’ during a disagreement about flower-girl dresses before her wedding to Prince Harry in May 2018.
They said it was more likely she broke down in tears because she was feeling emotional ahead of her nuptials, and her argument with Kate Middleton probably wasn’t the only reason for it.

‘She was probably emotional and sensitive at the time, Meghan, because you would be [with] all of the world’s eyes on you,’ Jackie, 46, said.
‘I don’t think anything too bad happened.’
Kyle also noted that Meghan occasionally seemed to be speaking on her husband’s behalf, and suggested the interview was ‘all about making Meghan look good’.

He remarked: ‘She even shut him down during the interview when he went to say something. [She said] “No, no,” squeezed his hand and talked over the top of him.
‘He was trying to explain, he was umm-ing and ahh-ing, and she was like, “No, sorry, darling,” squeezed his hand and answered for him. What was that about?’
Kyle, who is generally a supporter of the Sussexes, said this moment was a tell-tale sign Meghan wanted the interview to be all about her, not Harry.

‘It’s a tough one. I like them, I feel for them, but there’s some of it I don’t believe,’ he said.
‘Like her pretending she didn’t know what she was in for [marrying into royalty] and she didn’t know she’d have to give up social media. We all know that you’ve got to give that up.’
‘She’s American, not dumb. The royal family is on TV every five seconds in America. Always has been.’

Kyle is a monarchist but has also shown sympathy towards Meghan in the past.
He famously hung up on her half-sister Samantha when she tried to promote her tell-all memoir, The Diary of Princess Pushy’s Sister, on his radio show in April 2017.
‘Not interested. Don’t use your sister’s name to trick media organisations into pushing your s**t book. You’re gone… What a loser,’ he snapped, abruptly ending the interview.

The Sussexes’ interview with talk show queen Oprah Winfrey, for which they insist they were not paid, was broadcast in the U.S. in CBS on Sunday night. It aired in Australia on Channel 10 on Monday.
During their explosive sit-down, the couple claimed a member of the royal family – not the Queen or Prince Philip – had expressed concerns about how ‘dark’ their son Archie’s skin was going to be when he was born.
They also said that Harry’s father, Prince Charles, had cut him off financially and ‘stopped taking his calls’ as tensions escalated over Megxit, and that they were living off his late mother Princess Diana’s savings.
