The likes of Harry Kane and Mary Earps will join together to help the nation learn British Sign Language (BSL) in a new campaign launched by EE.

The initiative, called ‘Support. It’s In Your Hands’ will feature international footballers teaching BSL in bitesize content that is easy to take in, with the likes of Bukayo Saka, Declan Rice and Ella Toone also taking part.

It was created with support from the Royal Association of Deaf people and the Home Nations Football Associations and will advertised during England’s friendly against Brazil at Wembley on Saturday.

The aim is to help the nation increase their skills in BSL and help everyone feel part of the football conversation.

Lisa Evans and Dion Charles will also be involved in giving BSL tutorials, with a hero film to be created showcasing how BSL is incorporated in football.

EE will also engage content creators to help teach the basics of BSL and facilitate training for colleagues in Deaf Awareness courses.

An estimated 1.2million adults in the United Kingdom have hearing loss severe enough to impede most conversational speech, though there are only around 150,000 BSL users in the country, 87,000 of them deaf.

It is estimated that around 14.2million people will experience hearing loss in the UK by 2035. BSL was officially recognised as a language in the UK in 2002, and will be offered as a GCSE subject from 2025.

The campaign has launched with a film showing all the ways BSL is incorporated in football, created using a combination of archive footage, fan user-generated content and original content.
