Harry Kane dodges question about Tottenham future as he refuses to rule out move abroad

Harry Kane dodges question about his Tottenham future after breaking the club’s goalscoring record… as the star striker refuses to rule out a move abroad this summer

Harry Kane failed to deny he will be leaving Tottenham this summer after breaking the club’s all-time goalscoring record.

The star striker, 29, surpassed Jimmy Greaves’ milestone of 266 goals for Spurs as he scored the winner in a 1-0 victory against Manchester City on Sunday.

But when asked about his future after the game, Kane dodged the question and refused to rule out a move away.

Former Middlesbrough striker Jan Aage Fjortoft asked: ‘All over the thing now with Harry Kane: will he leave the country, will he go to Germany and all that kind of thing. Is that the moment you tell the Tottenham fans “I’m here to stay”?’

Kane responded: ‘Look, I’m just here to perform every game and give my all for the badge so yeah, we’ll see what happens.

‘I’m concentrated on this season. We’ve got the FA Cup, we’ve got the Champions League coming up and we’re in a good position in the league to try to push forward so that’s what I’m concentrated on.’

Spurs manager Antonio Conte, who could not attend the City game because he is in Italy recovering after gallbladder surgery, called Kane to personally congratulate him on his record-breaking feat.

Conte was quick to add his congratulations from afar, with a video from the dressing room seeing Kane receive a call from his boss.

‘You make me proud,’ Conte was heard saying, with the Spurs head coach confirming he was feeling fine after being asked by Kane about his recovery from surgery on Wednesday.

Conte later posted on Instagram to congratulate his side on their victory, with the result putting Spurs on point behind fourth placed Newcastle in the Premier League.

‘Always with You, even from afar,’ Conte wrote. ‘Proud of the whole team.’

The post-match focus was centred on Kane’s achievement, with the forward becoming just the third player to reach 200 Premier League goals.

Alan Shearer and Wayne Rooney are the only other players to have reached the landmark.
