Harry Kane exposed Jamie Carragher as a liar on American TV in a jokey post-match interview after his Champions League win on Tuesday.
The England captain scored twice as Bayern Munich overturned a 1-0 first-leg defeat to Lazio to progress to the quarter-finals 3-1 on aggregate.
The former Liverpool man had said before the game that he had spoken to Kane to inspire him to victory in the last-16 of the Champions League, but that was quickly denied by Kane.
CBS Sports presenter Kate Abdo started the post-match interview by addressing Kane. ‘Before we do anything, I think we should clear up, because Jamie said earlier on in the pre-game, that he called you and spoke to you this week. Is that true or false?’
‘That is false’, Kane replied, causing hysterical laughter from Carragher in the studio.

Carragher responded: ‘Mate, don’t do this to me! I’m telling everyone in America that we’re friends, we’ve got a great relationship. I can’t believe you’ve just done that to me!’
The Bayern sharp shooter said: ‘We are friends, but I’m not going to lie on national TV.’
Carragher declared they were ‘Twitter friends’, which led Abdo to claim ‘that’s not friends’.
He went on to explain that he backed Kane to do the business against Lazio, even if their conversation wasn’t ‘the full truth or the whole truth’, as they had exchanged messages ’12 months ago’.
Kane laughed and said: ‘Yeah, we did indeed. I appreciate it though.’
They later continued their discussion on X (formerly Twitter), with the former Tottenham talisman writing: ‘Sorry @Carra23 the truth will always come out’, alongside tears of joy emojis.

Following their success in Europe, Bayern return to domestic duties with a home game against Mainz on Saturday afternoon, as they look to claw back a ten point deficit behind Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen.
