- Tottenham came from two goals behind to draw 2-2 with Juventus on Tuesday
- Gonzalo Higuain scored twice in the first nine minutes for the Serie A outfit
- Spurs drew level in the tie with goals from Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen
Harry Kane hailed Tottenham’s ‘character’ after they refused to fold following the nightmare start to their Champions League last-16 tie.
Spurs went two goals down after just nine minutes but rallied to outplay the Italian champions and drew level in the tie with goals from Kane and Christian Eriksen.
Juventus had never lost a two-goal lead at their Allianz Stadium home before last night but will now have to travel to Wembley in three weeks’ time on the back foot.
Harry Kane scored Tottenham’s first as they came from two behind to draw 2-2 with Juventus
‘We could have (folded) away from home, Champions League, at Juventus and on the big stage,’ Kane said.
‘It shows the character in the squad and we deserved to get back in the game. Two away goals, going back to Wembley, is a great result.’
Tottenham have only lost twice at Wembley this season and will relish the return leg, having beaten Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund at their temporary home in the Champions League.
Kane believes that Tottenham ‘deserved’ to get back into the match on Tuesday night
‘It will be a completely different game (at Wembley),’ Eriksen said. ‘We are sure we will get our chances and we are looking forward to it.’
Kane’s game-changing goal came moments after Gianluigi Buffon had made a point-blank save from the England striker’s header – and he was relieved to convert at the second opportunity.
‘I had a chance just before the goal with a header, obviously I should’ve scored that, but I waited for the next one. Dele Alli put a great ball in and I managed to finish it off.’
